Coppice Week – Ashdown forest

The Sussex & Surrey Coppice Group is once again organising a ‘Coppice Week’ on Ashdown Forest to run between 17th and 22nd May.

This is a chance to try out or improve your skills in one of the traditional coppice crafts that the  group are running workshops in.  There are some excellent craftsmen and women attending and if you live in the area or spend most of your time working in forestry you will be able to get a subsidised course fee.

As of today, (Friday 13th May) there are spaces for:

oak swill baskets (Fri-Sun)
frame baskets (Sat-Sun)
charcoal (Tues-Weds) or (Thurs-Fri) But stay as long as you like really!
hazel hurdles (Tues-Thurs)
2-day Sussex Trugs (Thus-Fri)
intro Sussex Trugs (Sat)
tree bark weaving (Fri)
besoms and tent pegs (Fri)
spoon carving (Sat) or (Sun)

For more details and to book a place on any of the courses, contact Dave Rossney from Esus Forestry [email protected]
