Thanks for the kind words Rankinswood. I'll see how the finished article turns out, but so far the response to it has been overwhelmingly positive. Given the current demand of similarly constructed shepherds huts, a sturdily built living van seems like a sensible alternative to this wanting a bit more function.

Continued....

Once the roof was on, the pressure was off a little, as the exterior plywood is more than capable of dealing with a few heavy bouts of rain. Nonetheless, I cracked on by fitting a second hand stable door and added the same breathable membrane as I used under the tin for the sides as well;

The membrane was held in place with roofing laths, which were also used to support the cladding.I also knocked up a set of steps with some left over decking and some 12"x2".

From this point, things really started to take shape; the cladding was added in just under six hours;

Its starting to look like a Blackdown Sheperds Hut (Self build from £9,300, 12' x 7.5 Complete Oak Version £18,594). Have you totted up your spend to date on yours? Think you are allowed to be a bit chuffed.

Blackdown;

Those huts look particularly good don't they?! Blackdown's huts look the part, and the size of some are almost akin to a static caravan.

I trawled the net for ages looking for inspiration, which is why I settled on a living van over a shepherds hut. My only regret about my choice of carriage so far is that it didn't come with artillery - style wheels. But then the next one may have!

watching this thread with interest as living van / hut on wheels is on my day dream plan of things to do. Maybe get a caravan/trailer chassis and do my own design and build, or maybe go for kit like this http://www.tuin.co.uk/Shepherd-Hut.html ... tAod9HUA-A £3200 doesn't seem too bad considering prices from other places.

I can't seem to find the link to it now, but did anyone spot the living van and 2.5 acres of wood for sale near Okehampton on ebay last week? Under £30k
