water filters

Topics that don't easily fit anywhere else!

Postby steve rollnick » Sat Feb 14, 2009 6:20 pm

Can anyone help me decide what water filter to use if any, for water that sits in a water butt? I realize one can boil this water, but is there a filter that allows one to drink it?

What make of filter would you recommend?

Thank you,

Steve

For the price I'd buy some large water containers from argos then use tap water from home. Water butts encourge mosquitos plus the water is stagnated. Some the water filters that ages to trickle through.

It is expensive, but we bought ours for wider issues than just water in the wood - like peak oil (!!) and no drinking water and stuff.... tastes ok, but a bit concretey!

Let your trees make water for you. In summer you can enclose small branches in transparent plastic bags, tie closed and collect the transpired water as it condenses.
