Biochar seems to be the new buzz word, but I am not sure if I am being dim. Is biochar the same thing as your common or garden charcoal, and does a Biochar kiln produce the same output as a charcoal kiln?

Hello Emma,

I don't think you're being dim - it does seem that 'bio-char is a bit of a buzz word but the link below does take you to the UK bio-char site whaere they put thier slant on it. The other term used is Terra Preta which I think was the set up found to be used in certain parts of the rain forests by indiginous peoples. We have used the fines from our charcoal kiln this year on our veggie area and EVERYTHING - including the weeds - grew like mad!
