Thanks Adrian. Before I invest in a mill, I have a Husqvarna 351(spec here) http://www.cutting-edgetech.com/chain_saws.html do you think it's up to the job or do you think I should upgrade?

Please don't accept this as expert advice, just the benfit of my limited experiance.

The husqvana 351 may be underpowerd to do the slabing but would be a good tool to edge the planks using the Minimill. Consider the biggest diameter trees you wish to process, add on about 6 " to allow for clamping the bar to the mill this will give you the bar length you are looking for , then look at the specs for saws that are recomended for that bar length.
