Mike and I found a bird egg (hatched one) in the wood today - and I can\'t find anywhere we can ID it online... any ideas where we can go to ID it? If you look at our blog, peplers.blogspot.com you will see it in Fridays post. Know what it is?

thanks!

Tracy

Hi Tracy

if the egg shell was all white and judging by the size of it I suspect it may have belonged to a collared dove (31mm long!), wood pigeon eggs are similar but 41mm long. Hope this is of use, Dave

Thanks Dave!

I think we were secretly hoping it would be something fancy, but Doves are nice....!

I think it was a wood pigeon - we\'ll go back and check, if it\'s still there.
