Mystery nest

Postby Rich » Sun Jan 20, 2013 9:12 am

I managed to get in the wood the other day for the first time in ages, I was collecting some small diameter firewood I had leant up against an oak tree in the summer. I found this nest inside it, sorry it's appaulingly poorly focused. Can anyone suggest what it might be? The droppings were 4 or 5mm long, the nest is mostly moss and bits of grass and woodchip.

Thanks for the photos, seem feasible! The pellets seem to be the right size and the nests are very similar.

Thanks Andy,
The pellets look pretty similar except the ones in my photos are smoother than the more ragged ones in in ocp's photo, maybe a variation in diet?
