Stoats are insane

Postby Alex » Mon Nov 26, 2012 3:26 pm

Couldn't believe my ears or my eyes on the weekend.

Gathering the sheep, I heard all this screeching, looked behind, and saw what I thought was a squirrel chasing a rabbit...went closer and realised it was Stoat, can't believe how much bigger the rabbit was compared to it, or the noise. The stoat got the rabbit, and from 5m away wasn't bothered by my presence or the sheepdogs, and just kept biting into the rabbit's neck. I left the stoat to it, but was surprised by how brazen it was.

here's a video showing the sort of thing I witnessed first hand, on a hillside though.

Yeah you're right, the speed at which these two were running down the hill was insane, and the sound of the rabbit screaking, I kid you not the dog and the sheep both turned their heads at the sight.

This has re-awakened an old earworm;-

A stoat and a weasel are easily confused but a stoat is totally different.
