umm...does anyone know wether its true that i could be fined heavily, if proven that i have ACCIDENTLY disturbed the habitat of the great crested newt ??

i doubt it, not if it was an accident (besides who would know?) ;)

having said that - i would be very careful what you post on the internet - as you really don't know who is reading what you write - if you know what i mean :? :? :?

You would not be prosecuted for accidentally damaging a great crested newt or it's habitat, but as you know that they are there, you will be expected to take reasonable steps to protect them and their habitat. If you do not take reasonable steps to do so, your actions will probably not be seen as accidental, but reckless and therefore you will be legally liable.

thx too you both for your comments... dont worry i havent commited a crime... but that info has now made my mind up not to purchase a woodland i had my eye on...phew!! thank goodness for that !! ;) am all for conservation but that would have seriously hinded my plans !!
