Somebody has asked to purchase 4 mature standard oak trees from our herefordshire wood. The trees are large with good straight trunks. Does anyone know how to calculate a selling price?

What are they worth to you? or to him?

Standing or roadside?

Access?

Diameter?

Where abouts in Herefordshire are you? We are in Bromyard, I buy standing timber, I try to think what it's worth as product then work backwards.

I should have introduced myself. My name is Richard Harper and together with my father own "greenhill coppice", 35 acres of oak,ash and sweet chestnut woodland along the marcle ridge near the "Cockshoot" in Herefordshire, part of the old "Foley estate".We manage the wood in the interest of wildlife conservation . We need to do some thinning of the oak standards in the next few years.

So the trees are standing, access is poor, diameter 30"+

I know the area well, we specialise in chestnut, so have a couple of woods in the area we harvest from.

If you want to sell any standing chestnut let me know.
