Advise on Woodland management

Anything to do with SWOG Membership, meetings and find people with skills to offer

Postby old smithy » Tue Aug 24, 2010 12:33 pm

Hi all, can anyone tell me if there is any free advice available for someone who has half an acre of woodland and an acre of meadow (with quite a few trees on) and wants to know more about what we can do with it?

I guess I just want some advice on how to best make sure it is looked after and managed correctly.

Thanks.

Old Smithy.

Hi Old Smithy

Let's see - you could see if any SWOG members are near you that might like to visit and chat some things through.... you could see if the FC will send someone out - but they might not for such a small piece of land as they are very busy.

Butterfly conservation might be able to help as you have a meadow....

Hope this helps as a start!

Thanks for the advice Tracy, at some point I'd like to go on a course to help myself out but in the mean time there is actual work to be done :)

It depends on your objectives: if you have some wildlife objectives then the local wildlife trust might help with some advice too.
