I need 3 friends to do a chainaw course with!

Its with David Rossney - who trained Mike

Its an ITA course with trees up to 8\".

David says, \'ITA stands for integrated training and assessment which differentiates it from the separate NPTC system. It does provide HSE approved coverage for working as an effective contractor, but obviously within the parameters of the course, in particular the size limit of 8\" trees. The HSE stipulated that those felling trees above this size needed to go through the relevant NPTC assessment. Remember the qualification is for 5 years as opposed to life for the NPTC system, although there is always a presumption that refresher training will be undertaken shortly after or before 5 years has elapsed.\'

The exact cost of the ITA 8\" course is 4 days at £80 per day per person if we get a group of 4. The Lantra registration and assessment stuff is on top of this and comes to £50 per person. The certificate is valid for 5 years.

ok, thats all very technical. Anyone out there want to do this course?

Come on, I need some people to do the course with Tracy so I don\'t have to do all the chainsaw work myself! ;-)

My hubby\'s been talking about going on a chainsaw course for years now. I\'ve just had a quick word after showing him this website, and he\'s very keen. Any guide as to where the course will be and more details would be useful. Thanks

Marvellous! You can email me

and we can work out the time and place. The course is likely to be in Kent, perhaps near the East Sussex border and David is the most respected trainer that we know!

Well, we have one more day to do on our course - I have 4 blisters and myserious bruises on my legs - but caused no major accidents!

Seriously, really really good fun and we have learned a lot! Highly recommend a course to all your chainsaw users out there - really been brought home to us just how dangerous it is to use a saw without training. Please put aside your pride - bother your friends who use without training- please don't use a chainsaw without it. We don't want any swog deaths, and I am not being melodramatic!

Let me know if you are interested in future courses - David Rosney is an excellent trainer.

Be safe ;-)

Tracy and I hope to be doing a "coppice harvesting" course in October with David, if anyone else is interested.

The Netherfield centre (East Sussex) has some places available for the one day chainsaw course -maintenance and cross cutting. The course is on the 20th January , costs £150

Ideal for those starting out with a saw, who need to know how to handle it safely, keep it clean and well maintained and learn to cross cut.

Please contact Ruth if you are interested. David Rossney is the excellent tutor!
