The day will be spent creatively making willow designs that could include lattice trellis’, obelisks, bird feeders, hurdles and angels. We will cover areas including: raw materials, willow varieties grown and found in hedgerows, growing and coppicing willow beds, grading, drying, storage and soaking.
Aims:
By the end of the course participants should:
Be able to make a variety of items for the garden from willow
Know how to select and find suitable material
Know how to grade, dry, store and soak willow
Ask about camping, tipis, yurts or eco-hostel accommodation to make a weekend of it!
