The victim is thought to be one 'Mr Fluffy', a much loved member of the local Squirrel family and well known to the local community. Mr Fluffy is described as 'a loveable rogue' who hung about in the trees and was known as a petty criminal with a habit of occasional nut theft and tree vandalism.
The perpetrator had the brazen audacity to not only drag Mr Fluffy on to a fallen tree and eat him, but in an act of callous disregard for the victim, once Mr Fluffy had been fully consumed, a large grey turd was deposited at the crime scene.
Authorities have so far been unable to pin down the likely killer or establish a motive, but have issued a description of a character reported as looking furtive and acting suspiciously in the area near the estimated time of the crime; Ginger haired, short, pointed ears and a bushy tail.
The victims family are receiving counselling and have been quoted as saying, " We are recently arrived immigrants to this country and had heard it was a tolerant peaceful place. Now we are thinking of returning to our native North America, the government is failing to protect our community and we even suspect there are Nationalist organisations who want to see us wiped out in a programme of ethnic cleansing."
