Wacky Tools

Wanted to make a round shaft for a handle from some half seasoned Ash without the hassle of rigging up my pole lathe.
This wacky idea worked really well with an old Hoover upright, as the spacing was ideal to give a good tension on the drive belt with the body clamped to the side, and luckily rotated in the right direction. A simple piece of timber clamped along the front made an ideal tool rest and away you go, making short work of spinning out the required size handle. After finishing, the Hoover was unclamped, the beater bar refitted and used to hoover up the chippings.
