Has anyone ever been sued by a trespasser hurting himself?
I've only ever seen one trespasser in my wood, in the 20 odd years Ive had it, so have saved a lot of money by not having insurance.

A valid point Jennysmate.

When I chatted to Gary at Beechtree regarding a tailor made package on my new barn (goes up next week) he said that in all his years providing third party cover he'd only ever had two claims and both were spurious.

I guess you only need cover if you have regular numbers of people in your wood (such as courses) or have a major footpath through. While we live in an increasingly litigious society, claims are rare.

I've loads of very old crumbly tall trees which regularly drop large branches, but nobody comes through so I see no need for 3rd party. Wouldn't mind the value of the barn and timber being covered in case of arson (unlikely) or lightning (small possibility), but I'll have remote messaging cameras which would pick up most issues.

The insurance is also to defend against those spurious claims, as well as pay out if a valid claim did come along.
