Ron Bury is remarkably focused on getting to the bottom of problems with Little Acorns, its pretty much his mission in life. For a token amount (voluntary, not requested) he helped me get mine working by reloading different software off his website, albeit with a continuing hitch which meant the settings could only be subsequently changed by putting the SD card in a PC and reloading the software every time. He asked me to send him screenshots of the faulty jumbled menu settings for him to forward to the Chinese, he was determined to try and work out the problem.

Tonight, having talked to the Chinese, he sent me another revised version of the software and after loading it on as per his previous instructions, I found the camera is working absolutely perfectly as it did when it came out of the box. I can see why Pakatak send all there (few) cameras with problems to him, he's very dedicated and amazingly co-operative. He lives somewhere in a wilderness in Scotland and I think occasion contact from Little Acorn users is about his only contact with civilisation, so he's very enthused.

A bit of a saga with a happy ending. Ron is a star.

Tonight we had a 50th Birthday celebration by members of Somerset Wildlife Trust and I had about 30 different Trailcamera clips going on loop on the laptop for people to watch. It was a big hit, with the 'stars' unexpectedly being the woodmice, which they loved.

Well, here's the first successful vids at the Badger Sett. It's 3 partial clips cobbled together from 2 nights video - unfortunately the group shot is in the mist so quality isn't great but clearly shows 3 adults with a quick glimpse of a cub dashing to Mum. 'Cos some of it's fairly dark it's best viewed in full screen.

The infra red lighting clearly doesn't have a great effective range and I do need to play with camera placement for better shots.

Wow there's lots of them. Excellent result. Our camera - a Bushnell- has confirmed we have badger in our wood- just transiting apparently though they did have a good dig under one of our trees.

Yeah, I was pleased with the result at the first attempt with a properly working camera. I'd be surprised if there's not a few more than that tho 'cos the Sett's been there about 15 years or so - the biggest downside for the Sett though has to be it's location in a suburban garden so food supply has to be fairly limited. It's not common for there to be Setts in locations like this and when it first appeared we did have a local Badger expert in to check if it was Badgers - first reaction was that there wasn't a cat in hells chance of it being Badgers and he was shocked when he saw it. Since then we're tried to ensure that few know of it's existence.

What did surprise me in the video though is how small that cub is - having done a little reading it should be almost fully grown by now but it's tiny.

Hope to get time tomorrow to get over and try to re-position the camera but it's not easy with the location.

Well, so far I'm fairly impressed with the 6210 for the price. In a week or two, for anyone that's interested (particularly Smojo), I will post a review and comparison of the pros & cons between the 5210A and the 6210MC that I now have tho comparison of picture quality will be limited as I had so many problems with the 5210.

At the Sett I'm continuing to get good results tho getting camera placement right is going to take time. I have moved it today but I am limited on placement options so not sure what I'll get from where it is.

I'm getting such good results and easy access to the Sett that I've decided to run the U-Tube videos as a fairly regular updates of 'Life around the Sett' so rather than post links here and bore you all to death anyone that's interested in following the Sett life only need to subscribe.

I've uploaded some of last nights shots and will put a link here, mainly in the hope that someone may be able to figure out what it caught. At about 2.30am today something flies across the screen and I can't figure what it is - it's quick, slightly erratic flight and doesn't look like a bird or a bat but I really can't think what else would be flying at that time of night..... Great footage and nice quality. I think your 'UFO' is a large moth a few feet away from the camera.
