Many thanks to Sarah who has pulled out all the stops to produce a bumber Christmas and New Year edition of the Newsletter.

Looking back to last year, it was at this time in December that we had a 10inch fall of snow. This year we’ve barely had a frost and I notice some of the trees are still in full leaf! So without any excuses to stay in by the fire, you’ll need to put aside some time over the next month or two to read this special edition of the newletter.

Wishing you all the very best for Christmas and the new year

The November Newsletter is now on line. Sarah has put out a great edition this month with some interesting articles.

Susan Goldwyre reports on her woodland and tower folley conversion, with all the planning issues involved. There’s a call for volunteers to help plant a new woodland at Woodgate Farm, plus an article about owning and managing a woodland by Gabriel Hemery and Ian Gouldsborough’s report on a very useful and informative meeting at Julian Evans’ wood in Hampshire.

Much more as ever, so plenty to bury your heads in this Autumn if you can be torn away from the woods and the beautiful autumnal colours.

Well Autumn should really be well underway now, but the weather this week seems to be telling us something different. This year seems to be a bumber crop for berries: hawthorn, sloe, elder, the hedgrows are brimming, as is this months newsletter.

There’s an interesting article about solar power, Sarah has recently installed some panals to her house and reports back on the pros and cons of the system. It will be a long time however before technology improves on what nature has been doing for millions of year. Storing sunlight as sugar in the berries for us to enjoy and carbon in the trees to warm us through the winter.
